SOOOOO, I’ve been lazy. I’ve been really lazy. This summer, I’ve been working about 5-7 hours a week. I’ve really been spending a lot of time with my family. My oldest son started his Senior year today (Mom’s going a bit crazy) and my youngest started 3rd grade! This has made my world flip a bit. I was actually at the office before 9 today, and may actually be here more today, than all last week! I always have (and always will) put my family first. We have football practice three nights a week for the little guy, and games on Saturdays. The oldest is a Varsity football player, so Friday nights are gone until mid-December! These events create a whirlwind of activity and responsibilities that are ALWAYS conflicting! So, I’ve committed to play more and work less while the kids are still home.
You’ll see a bit more “communication” out of me on this blog in the coming months. I plan to share more about my life as a real estate investor. You see, the glory isn’t in the GRIND. The glory is in being able to build a team around you so you can skip a day, week, or month, without the heart stopping. I’ve completely overhauled my companies in the past twelve months. Some great people left, because they either didn’t like the change, or felt like the company was unstable. Unstable is my middle name 😉
Through it all, I’ve stayed focused on the goal. The goal is to have a happy family. That’s really it. I’ve been pretty distracted with BIG numbers, and massive revenue, private equity, hundreds of houses, etc, etc, etc for the past few years. We have some great products and services at my companies. I have some great tenants, partners, employees, vendors, and mentors that enable me daily. I hope to shine a light on what I do that allows me the flexibility I enjoy, while still living a blessed life.
So, until next time, the kids are back in school! Yippee! Stay focused on your goal. Don’t let the goal be about a number. Let the goal be about a lifestyle.
