As an active real estate investor, you will be contacted about houses that do not meet your criteria. Learning how to make the most from these leads is one of the most vital skills a new investor can learn. They say real estate is about, “location, location, location”, but I believe it is more about who you know, and where they operate.
I make money off of houses I have no interest in routinely in my real estate investment business. Most of these houses, I never even own. This is in large part due to my understanding of the investor market in the areas I am active in. Ultimately, you have to get in the door, and negotiate a price that will work for your client, NOT you!
Learning to be a real estate investor can be an uphill climb, but by networking and learning from others, you can get on the ladder half way up. One of the best books I have ever read about this philosophy is the Millionaire Real Estate Investor, by Gary Keller.
